The Honourable Chief Justice Piyakul Boonperm
Chief Justice Piyakul Boonperm is Thailand’s 47th President of the Supreme Court and Chair of ALA Thailand. Chief Justice Boonperm graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree (second class honours) from Ramkhamhaeng University. She completed the Barrister-at-Law requirements of the Institute of Legal Education, Thai Bar Association under the Royal Patronage. She also earned her Master of Laws from Chulalongkorn University.
Prior to her appointment as President of the Supreme Court of Thailand and Chair of ALA Thailand, Chief Justice Boonperm served as President of the Court of Appeal from October 2020 until September 2021 and was previously appointed as Vice-Chair of ALA Thailand on 15 November 2019.
Chief Justice Boonperm commenced her judiciary career as a judge-trainee in 1982. In the course of her distinguished career, she held numerous prominent positions in the Judiciary of Thailand including Presiding Justice of the Supreme Court, President of the Court of Appeal, Region I and President of the Bankruptcy Case Division of the Supreme Court.
In recognition of her services, she was graciously bestowed the Knight Grand Cordon (Special Class) of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand in 2000 and the Knight Grand Cordon (Special Class) of the Most Exalted Order of the White Elephant in 2003 by His Majesty the King.
Presently, Chief Justice Boonperm also serves as Chairman of the Judicial Commission, Chairman of the Judicial Administration Commission and President of the Thai Bar under the Royal Patronage.
