The ALA has established Standing Committees to make recommendations to the Governing Council on matters relevant to legal cooperation among ASEAN countries in their respective fields. Each Standing Committee is chaired by a different member country.

Note: The Judicial Cooperation Standing Committee (chaired by Thailand) was disbanded at the 36th GC Meeting on 19 Sept 2014, as a meeting of ASEAN Chief Justices was, pursuant to a decision of the Chief Justices of ASEAN at the inaugural ASEAN Chief Justices’ Meeting (“ACJM”) in Singapore on 23 August 2013, to be held in conjunction with each ALA meeting.
