ALA 25th Anniversary Invitational Golf Tournament Wack Wack Golf and Country Club, Metro Manila, Philippines, 27 November 2005
The ALA 25th Anniversary Special Commemorative Session was brought to a close with the Tournament organised by the ALA Golf Chapter at the prestigious and exclusive Wack Wack Golf and Country Club, Metro Manila, Philippines on 27 November 2005. The event was graced by the presence of His Excellency the former President Fidel V Ramos of the Philippines, Atty Benjamin S. Abalos Sr., President of the Wack Wack Club, Justice Dato James Foong, ALA Golf Captain and host Atty "Tiger" Avelino Cruz, Secretary-General of the Golf Chapter, Atty Salvador C. Medialdea and ALA Secretary-General Charles Lim.
The event was blessed with wonderfully cool weather on a beautiful but challenging course. The ALA golfers were joined by Justices attending the Judicial Reform Conference. Golfers were treated to a sumptuous buffet dinner after the gruelling 18 holes. The speeches were peppered with humorous golf jokes from Justice Foong and Atty Cruz. Masters of Ceremony for the evening were Atty Medialdea and Atty Jeremy Parulan. Atty Parulan was incidentally the Class A Champion. Golfers from Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines participated in the tournament. The challenge trophy was held over to the next tournament. So Malaysia retained the trophy as the defending champion.
Solicitor-General Lee Seiu Kin of Singapore who was the defending champion after his 86 gross at Bali surrendered his individual title to Atty Salvador Medialdea who was the overall champion. Datuk Eugene Campos of Malaysia briefly stole the limelight with a blistering one over score of 73 gross on the par 72 course to win the best gross prize. Mrs Anongporn Thanachaiary of Thailand emerged the individual ladies' champion followed by runner-up Atty Sylvette Tankiang.
